Levuma was established in 2008 by Ali Khalil - a fourth-generation Diamantaire - as a rough and polished diamond manufacturing and trading company, specialising in large white and rare fancy coloured diamonds.

The company's roots go back to the early 1930's when Ali's great grandfather started his career in diamonds in Sierra Leone. Eventually, with a strong background in mining and rough sourcing across West Africa and Central Africa, the company rapidly developed into one of the largest rough diamond traders in the international scene.

Further recognition was gained when the company discovered and sold ''The Incomparable'' – one of the world’s largest diamonds, weighing an astounding 890 carats.

All these legacies have granted Levuma a deep understanding of the diamond business and allowed it to establish a vast network of companies in key diamond trading and manufacturing centres in the world: Antwerp, New York, Dubai, Honk Kong and Johannesburg.

Levuma, a remote village in the southeastern part of Sierra Leone, bears a great significance to the family as it is the place where their first plot of land was allocated to mine diamonds, shaping the family history to this day.
